Microsoft confirms that the Windows 10 Creators Update is for all PC. However, not all Windows phones are fortunate for the update.
The Windows 10 Creators Update will be readily available for downloads for every Windows 10 PC, but according to Engadget, only a handful of Windows phones are blessed for the update. Recently, Microsoft revealed that the Windows 10 Creators Update is not for all Windows phones. When Microsoft was asked on the reason for the download limit, the company said that it's all about the matter of setting performance expectations.
ZDNet listed the complete names of Windows phones that are supported by the Windows 10 Creators Update. The lucky Windows phones include the Alcatel IDOL 4S, HP Elite X3, Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL, Lenovo Softbank 503LV, and MCJ Madosma Q601. Furthermore, the Microsoft Lumia 550, 640/640XL, 650, 950/950XL and Trinity NuAns Neo and the Vaio VPB051 are also subjects for the update.
Obviously, the devices which are not included on the list are not chosen to receive the Windows 10 Creators Update. Based on the notes of Dona Sarkar from Microsoft, "Windows wasn't offering the best possible experience" when it comes to older phones. Moreover, Sarkar added that the Windows 10 Creators Update can be further be used on unsupported hardware, but the users will be running the new Operating System at their own risk.
Furthermore, Microsoft just released a Fast Ring Test build for Windows phones to follow the Windows 10 Creators Update. The Fast Ring Test includes a number of bug fixes with a build number for itself of 15204 which is also available for the list of Windows phones that was mentioned early.
Sarkar also added that Microsoft is working to converge code into OneCore, which means Windows connection between PC, phone, tablet, IoT, Xbox, and HoloLens are making easy though the Windows 10 Creators Update. However, at the moment, this is not yet available and the branch and build number for mobile phone will not match for PCs.
