Cupertino-based consumer electronics manufacturer Apple will be introducing a successor to the iPhone SE that was debuted two years ago. While reports indicate that the company plans to unveil their new smartphone as early as June this year, the WWDC event by Apple is mainly a software-based event at least on the mainstream which is why a new device launch is highly unlikely.
Earlier rumors have predicted that Apple has ditched the successor to the iPhone SE due to primary concentration now diverting towards making their existing flagship devices, better than before. That said, details from GizBot reveal iPhone SE is most likely launching on Jun. 05 at the World Wide Developer Conference in California this year. The company has already sent out media invites for their upcoming event which will likely witness iOS 11 among many other things.
As reported earlier, a Chinese website leaked images of what looks to be the rear shell of the iPhone SE mentioning that the new iPhone will sport an Ion-X glass panel on the back. As per reports from MacRumours, Apple now plans to switch from a metal build to a glass panel. The Ion-X glass is currently present on the Apple Watch Sport, one of the popular products from Apple.
The report alleges that the paperwork behind the leaked image on the website likely belongs to an Apple partner like Foxconn or Pegatron. On the bright side of things, it's finally exciting for the fans to see a new shell design than the same old iPhones that Apple has been selling for more than three years now. KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has earlier suggested that Apple is unlikely to release the iPhone SE in the first half of 2017.
Reports seem to suggest Apple's next three iPhones in September this year include the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus along with the new iPhone 8 itself. It makes sense to wait for Apple's WWDC event to see whether the company will indeed launch a product during the event.
