The recent outbreak of gastrointestinal illness throughout the United States has been massive. And, perhaps the most affected parts of the country with this horrible disease have been Yolo county including certain other parts of California. In a recent report published by The Yolo County Health & Human Services Agency, it stated that about 952 students, teachers, and staffs have been diagnosed with such GI-based sickness causing them to be suffered from stomach cramps, vomiting, and diarrhea.
According to Outbreak News Today, the agency has further hinted that such disease has been caused due to the massive outbreak of Norovirus which is highly contagious in nature. The virus can outspread just by a sheer touch by the infected ones on healthy being. Besides that, it can also spread by the consumption of contaminated food and water. In particular, Norovirus are extremely tiny in size and move through as united into billions of units in an infected individual's vomit. There is no particular cure for Norovirus and the infected ones can carry the harmful effects of the same for at least three days.
The Sacramento Bee pointed the symptoms of being Norovirus affected include fever, nausea, irritation, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach pain. According to Ron Chapman, MD, MPH, Yolo County Public Health Officer, the first 48 hours are crucial, after the first witness of symptoms and being infected by the Norovirus. The infected ones can carry out the infections to others within the next 3 days. Therefore, Chapman indicated to abide by certain measures for quick prevention of Norovirus. He said that the infected ones must stay at home for at least 48 hours after even when the symptoms are gone as the infection might stay inside the infected body and spread to fresh healthy beings.
He also hinted to wash hands with soaps and avoid making food, drinks for others with contaminated body. The effects of Norovirus was found in 32 schools in Yolo county recently. The virus can even spread through air and land on the uninfected surfaces to spread over them. So, Chapman asked everyone to be more careful of the symptoms and take proper measures to avoid it.
