Scientists have discovered that the nanoparticles, which holds the key to further medical research, can be produced by the laser printing technique. This invention to produce nanoparticles with laser printing technique gives a promise of further medical research.
The nanoparticles as an electronic device have the most important characteristic of its absorbance by human bodies, or bioresorbable. That means a human body can absorb the electronic device as it dissolves of its own. Recently scientists have discovered that they can produce nanoparticles with laser printing technique.
The research was conducted by an international team of scientists from U.S. and China, led by an assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology, Dr. Heng Pan and a professor of biomedical engineering at Tianjin University in China, Dr. Xian Huang. They found that creating nanoparticles with laser printing technique is possible, which would be able to create a cost-effective approach to building better components for medical research purpose.
Currently, the production of nanoparticles must be conducted in the vacuum-based integrated circuit processes, resulting in expensive and complex components. The scientists have been searching to find the most efficient and cost-effective way to produce the components. Dr. Heng and his team found that the complex processes of evaporation–condensation can be done with laser printing and sintering the Zn nanoparticles, resulting in the more simple production of nanoparticles with laser printing technique.
They have published their research in the journal Advanced Materials. This holds a promise for the future medical research as producing nanoparticles with laser printing technique will provide a very efficient way to the medical technology.
Producing nanoparticles with laser printing technique will further advance the research on this very tiny particle, that has only between 1 and 100 nanometers in size.
