The upcoming premium device from LG is expected to be equipped with an OLED panel rather than the existing LCD panels that LG has decided to move away from. The device in question, the LG V30 is expected to be announced in the summer that was indirectly hinted at the Google I/O 2017, the company's annual developer conference. Numerous sources also suggest that LG will now be completely done with LCD panels for the better of worse.
According to details from The Verge, LG's prosumer devices which, most of the time are one step ahead of their current flagship device will now be equipped with the new panel. The LG 'V' series smartphone have been known to be sturdily built for which their first generation V10 was a perfect example of great hardware, build quality and features onboard. Sources close to a Korean tabloid indicates LG will now be relying on their display department to source all OLED panels for their upcoming smartphones which the LG V30 is one of them.
As noted from a report by The Korea Herald, all OLED panels manufactured in the second half of 2017 by the South Korean firm, will be used for the new LG v30 smartphones. LG is known to be the primary supplier for the majority of Chinese firms who mainly make use of a cheaper alternative to that of Samsung's AMOLED panels that are popular worldwide. Meanwhile, XDA Developers reveal the next generation LG G7 smartphone too will come out with the new panels.
The implementation of the new panels for smartphones these days are definitely hinting one thing. It looks like an end of an era of LCD screens on smartphones. Apple too, according to reports, is now moving away from LCDs favoring OLED on their upcoming smartphones. Research has shown that the latter help in saving a lot of battery. On top of that, they offer excellent color reproduction and contrast.
