A miracle baby named Erin Bates was born weighing 5lbs 4oz with an inborn heart condition which required open heart surgery has been battling problems with her windpipe has recently been tested positive of the coronavirus after months of treatment and even having a "good chance of recovery."

A heart-breaking picture has started to circulate the internet showing a daughter lying in the hospital on a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure otherwise known as CPAP machines which supply her the oxygen, surrounded by tubes, wires, and equipment.

Erin Bates' life

Mother Emma Bates, 29, has been staying at the Erin at the Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool while father Wayne, 32, is home in Bury, Greater Manchester, in order for him to self-isolate due to his contact with Erin. The couple still contacts through phone calls and Facetime video chats.

Both parents of Erin believe that Erin has fought so many times against the odds as the couple were previously told they could not have children but were still able to bring Erin into this world. The couple also praises the NHS doctors and nurses for their efforts.

The couple has said that the members of the public are still flouting the lockdown rules which has contributed to the virus' spread. According to Mr. Bates, "People are still not taking this outbreak seriously and that upsets me. I take it personally."

The couple have released a Facebook post saying urging people to pray for Erin as "Both myself and Wayne are utterly heartbroken" by recognizing the fact that they could lose their baby girl. Mr. Bates then said that he and his wife have been trying for 10 years before Erin was born.

Erin's early life

Erin had a tough early life due to her first six months being a traumatic experience as she was discovered to have a series of medical conditions wherein one actually required an open heart surgery in December. In January, Erin also suffered a respiratory syncytial virus, which then caused bronchiolitis as well as pneumonia in babies which is a very fatal condition.

There are also further conditions that have been affecting her airways, tracheomalacia, and also bronchomalacia. These certain disorders actually affect the windpipe as well as its branches into the lungs, and already requires the use of CPAP machines.

According to Mr. Bates, "She is only alive due to the staff at Alder Hey, the doctors and nurses." Continuing by expressing that he feels like the nurses especially have brought into Erin and have also started to have an emotional attachment with the baby as she starts to get better also stating that "They are looking after my wife and my girl, which is excellent."

As Erin tries to fight this virus despite previously having other major conditions, Mr. and Mrs. Bates are still hoping and praying that their daughter will recover from the coronavirus.
