In an Instagram post by Nikki Walker on July 9, she narrated how her nephew saved his sister from a dog attack. The six-year-old boy from Wyoming, United States, has been mauled by a dog after risking his life so that the dog will not attack his sister.
Bridger Walker bravely charged at the dog who was attacking his sister on July 9, according to the Instagram post. The little boy was bitten several times on his head as he struggled to fight the dog.
He was lucky to grab his sister's hand and lead her to safety. However, the attack has left the boy with several wounds, most of them in his face, which left him with 90 stitches.
Brave Boy Saves His Sister From a Dog Attack
The brave six-year-old boy said he was willing to give up his own life to save his sister from the dog attack. "If someone had to die, I thought it should be me," Bridger said, according to his aunt's Instagram post. The selfless act of the young has gone viral on the internet. Nearly 100,000 people have liked his Aunty Nicole's post in her Instagram account.
Presently, the six-year-old boy is recovering at his home and is in good spirits after his heroic act. "I just finished visiting with Bridger at his home," Aunt Nicole's post read. "His wounds are looking so much better! He's in great spirits, and his awesome personality is intact."
Though in good spirits already, the boy still cannot smile, but he was grinning as his aunt read some of the comments in her post to him. The most amazing of it all is that neither the boy nor his family held or feel no animosity towards the dog or its owners.
Also written to her post, Nicole said that the owner of the dog is great people who have always been kind to Bridger and his family.
"We feel no resentment toward them at all, and if anything there's only been an increase of love between our families as a result of this incident," said the Walker family.
Public Support After the Viral Post: A GoFundMe Page for Bridger
The boy's aunt thanked the people for their overwhelming support for the young boy and his family. She added: "Once again, everyone's kindness has meant so much to us. I'm trying to get to all of the messages that I can, but it may take some time."
Furthermore, as a sign of support, some people are inquiring if there is a GoFundMe page for Bridger. However, the boy's family encouraged anyone who would donate to give their donation instead to military veteran groups Wounded Warrior Project and Mission 22.
For Bridger, the family has requested people to send photos of rocks as the boy loves geology.
