Recently, experts have uncovered an exoplanet where the rain is rocky, where the wind moves stronger than the speed of light, and where the planet is engulfed by magma about 60 miles thick.
Even before that, scholars were said to have uncovered severe forms of "lava planets." They are described as worlds situated near the host star that becomes an ocean of molten lava on the planet's surface.
K2-141b is not the only drastic world of nature
The newly-discovered exoplanet is identified as K2-141b and, also beyond the other extreme planets, is said to be very special. Both rocks are said to consist of the surface, the oceans, as well as the atmosphere. Much like rain, these rocks then come down and finally melt into their large oceans.
It has been predicted that about two-thirds of the Earth is currently stuck in eternal, blazing sunshine from the orange dwarf star revolving around K2-141b. Since the Earth is so similar to the sun, with a period of years spanning fewer than a third of Earth's days, it is held in place by gravity, forcing the star to face the same side of the planet at all times.
The planet's numerous temperatures demonstrate how dramatic the disparity is
The weather is calculated to be below -200 degrees Celsius on the dark side of the Earth, although around 3000 degrees Celsius is on the other side of sunshine. This temperature is high enough to vaporize rocks full into a fragile atmosphere.
According to an Independent UK article, it is the globe's environment that ultimately undergoes precipitation by operating under a theory somewhat close to that of rainfall on Earth, much in how water evaporates through the atmosphere and begins to fall back as rain down to our planet. So does the silicon monoxide, sodium, and silicon dioxide contained on the K2-141b, along with the rocky atmosphere that is dragged by intense supersonic winds over the night side to cause it to drop straight down to the soil.
The world is far from Earth, but its size is about the same as our planet
Researchers used computer models to precisely explain what conditions Earth has close to the known K2-141b conditions. Earth is around the same size as the magma planet, but Earth is far from the sun. It is claimed that the world is around 200 lightyears away and was first detected back in 2018.
Researchers were able to utilize and interpret current evidence about the known environment using numerous computer models, which helped them understand the climate and weather cycle of the Earth. Somewhere in the future, the observations will then be checked by advanced technologies that would enable much further information to be observed about the environment and the structure of distant planets.
Like Earth's water cycle, only with rocks
The K2-141b cycle is not as smooth as it was on Earth, scientists claim. The return movement of the magma ocean to the day side is gradual. As a consequence, the mineral composition is predicted to shift with time, gradually affecting K2-141b's very surface and atmosphere.
"All rocky planets, including Earth, started off as molten worlds but then rapidly cooled and solidified. Lava planets give us a rare glimpse at this stage of planetary evolution," says Professor Cowan of the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences.
The findings are reported in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.
