Horror movie lovers' thirst will be slaked once again. Jeffrey Reddick, known for the Final Destination franchise, is making his directorial debut with The Final Reel, a horror film. Matt Nicholas will produce the movie via Rebel Maverick, his production house. Reddick will also write the screenplay.
The story setting will take place in a small town, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. "The horror film will center on a director who can manipulate reality through film and torments the residents of a small town by bringing their darkest fears to life." The cast details, plot and shooting time have not yet been publicized.
Will The Final Reel will be a sequel to Final Destination 5 or a completely different story? We don't know yet. If it is, we can surely expect the eternal plot of Death chasing accident survivors who are destined to have been dead already. Even creepier is how a few of the targeted victims try to take their own lives by attempting suicide, but Death thwarts their attempt to make sure they die according to its plans.
So far, Jeffrey Reddick's Final Destination franchise has generated $650 million which means on average it has grossed $130 million per sequel. We don't know how Jeffrey will direct The Final Reel, but this is going to be the first time ever he directs a horror movie that he writes himself.
As many of you might know, not all the Final Destination sequels have been directed by him. James Wong directed the first and third sequels, David R Ellis the second and fourth, and Steven Quale the fifth. Regardless of who the directors have been, audiences know Jeffrey Reddick as the Final Destination franchisor and his name is definitely more popular than the other 3 movie directors. The Final Reel definitely looks to be an even bigger hit and could easily pull in excess of $100 million at the box office.
