A huge alligator was spotted sheltering in a water pipe. Fortunately, a robotic camera convinced it to desert the area.

Robot Camera Finds Alligator in Water Pipe

The residents noticed a series of potholes in Oviedo, Florida. To investigate the issue, the locals used a robotic camera to look at what was inside the water pipes that may have caused the anomalies under the roadway.

However, they were shocked when they realized a massive reptile was hiding in the water pipe. The video obtained by BBC showed two little glowing eyes as the camera approached it.

Oviedo city officials admitted they thought it was a toad. As the camera approached, the animal turned around, exposing its long tail and entire body - apparently, it was a five-foot alligator.

The robot followed the gator as it walked away from it down the tunnel. After realizing an unwelcome visitor was there, the officials were relieved they had a robot to check the water pipes. They also warned locals not to wander down into the pipes.

The footage taken by the robotic cam was shared on Facebook. In the caption, the City of Oviedo administration said the Stormwater crew checked Lockwood Blvd near Riverside after potholes appeared on the roadway.

They used a four-wheel robotic camera that went inside the pipes. The crew reportedly uses the robot to investigate underground pipes for leaks, cracks, and defects.

The robot got about 340 feet in the tunnel before it got stuck into a little indentation. The alligator just went away after seeing the robot.

Netizens were very impressed with the use of the robotic camera. One said it was "pretty cool." The administration explained that the robot camera had been used for checking pipes. Before it, they used to send workers underground. Thus, they were thankful that a robotic camera caught the giant reptile and not their crew.

Alligator Spotted Crossing the Street

The alligator sightings in the past months have been increasing because it's already mating season. Earlier this month, a giant gator was seen taking its time while crossing the residential roadway on Kiawah Island, South Carolina.

The beast was so big that one netizen said it was a "dinosaur." Teresa Ficca captured footage and shared it on Instagram.

Ficca and her daughter were walking their black lab home from the beach when a man waved at them and told them to cross the street. Initially, she thought the resident in that area probably didn't want them near the property. However, the man seemingly read her mind and said a large alligator was at the end of the white fence.

They saw the giant reptile crossing the street. It was so big, and it lay down when it was about to get to the opposite side of the street.

The public has been warned to be vigilant because gators usually leave their comfort zones during mating season, which occurs in May or June.
