Reports from the internet revealed that Seagate has built an exclusive hardware for DJI drones. Seagate's latest offering to the Drone market might not be the actual drone itself but, for $120, it's the best accessory one can get.
DJI, in partnership with Seagate, has introduced a hard drive inbuilt with a Micro-SD card that offers storage capacities up to 2TB in size. The DJI Fly Drive will still carry DJI's branding in spite of being manufactured by Seagate.
The DJI Fly Drive is integrated with a USB Type-C port. Details from The Verge reveals that the micro-SD card slot is rated for cards carrying UHS-II speeds. The new integration into a hard drive will prove to be very useful for frequent drone flyers especially content creators who rely on a better storage capacity to store all their recorded content.
Reports from Ubergizmo mentioned the DJI Fly Drive is also secured on the outside with a built-in protective bumper that will protect the drive against possible drops and bumps arising in outdoor recordings. The drive was featured at the Consumer Electronics Show in January this year.
Seagate in their announcement said that the micro-SD card on the DJI Fly Drive will facilitate users in transferring captured content quickly to a portable hard drive especially during recordings or in situations where there's an unavailability of a laptop. The new hardware is expected to go on sale in the summer this year for the aforementioned price of $120.
Apart from that, DJI has stepped up their drone game even further with the release of a 100-megapixel drone camera in collaboration with Swedish camera maker Hasselblad. It might mainly be used for aerial imaging and mapping thanks to a very powerful sensor which helps in capturing intricate and detailed colors even in abysmal lighting conditions.
