‘Rooster Testes’ Used to Study Infectious Viruses

Infectious viruses in the human body are tiny parasites that have the capacity to infiltrate body cells, on that account; medical professionals did their best to help human body's germ cell to fight this micro-organism. However, a recent study used an interesting way of learning how the body fights this micro-organism with the use of rooster testes.

In an article in Science Daily, this interesting study lead by the researchers from the research team of the University of Rochester Center for RNA Biology entitles "From Genome to Therapeutics" cross-examined a kind of ribonucleic acid (RNA), piRNA that is present in rooster testes. This kind of RNA was known to shield germ cell in safeguarding and silencing infectious viruses in the human body.

Doctor Xin Li, assitant Professor from the University Of Rochester School Of Medicine and Dentistry and his team used rooster testes in analyzing these infectious viruses in the human body. The researchers focused on a specific parasite called avian leukosis virus, wherein this type of virus based on The Chicken Vet definition, it can cause tumors and cancer in chickens.

The researchers found out that this new avian leukosis virus can strengthen piRNA, which is ready in rooster testes, which can fight the old virus in chicken likewise on how it fights infectious viruses in the human body. According to Li, their study is an interesting way to understand how this type of ribonucleic acid can help medical professionals to target specific virus among humans and chickens.

On the other hand, this interesting study of rooster testes can help poultry industry to solve epidemic and increase productivity in the future. Also, researchers see this as a good opportunity to discover a new medicine that can kill and eliminate infectious viruses in the human body. Watch the video below.
