Yemen War Can Destroy Millennia-Old Preserved Mummies

The ongoing Yemen war has already taken a huge number of lives and pushed millions to the edge of starvation. Presently, the contention debilitates to delete a one of a kind piece of the nation's antiquated history. The millennia-old mummies are now a part of the risk, which can be devastated by the war.

According to The Hindu, there is a chance that the old collection of antique historical mummies at the Sana'a University Museum located in the Yemeni capital can be destructed due to the Yemen war. This devastating result of the Yemen war can happen anytime. There is a total of 12 ancient mummies which are kept in the museum.

These mummies are dated back to 400 B.C. which require care constantly. But as a result of the Yemen war, these mummies have started rotting as a part of the city has no more electricity. Archaeologists are struggling for sourcing the chemicals which are required for the care of the mummies. Due to the closure of Sana'a Airport and port restrictions, it is very hard for the scientists to get the required chemicals.

News Week reported that till now the Yemen war has resulted in the death of more than 10,000 people in the country and has given rise to ISIS and rejuvenated Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. Both of these groups are continuing to attack the capital city and the southern regions of the country. Months after a Saudi-drove coalition mediated against Iran-supported Houthi revolts in March 2015, UNESCO added the antiquated city to its List of World Heritage in Danger.

For overcoming with the dangerous results of the Yemen war, archaeologists have made an appeal to the local authorities as well as the international organization for a help in preserving these mummies which are in danger. They are demanding the required flow of supplies and personnel which are essential for the safety of the mummies.
