Severe Weather Hits Southern U.S. Since Memorial Day; Storm Warning is Issued

Storm and hail broke out in Georgia, Carolina, and some states in the southern part of the United States starting the Memorial Day. The storm warning was issued in South Carolina.

The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood advisory on Tuesday, May 30 for the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The warning mentioned that onshore winds along with wave action and tides will combine to create flooding of low areas along the shore. Citizens are advised to be prepared for road closure or minor flooding in the severe weather on Memorial Day.

Since Monday, as reported by USA Today, the gloomy weather hung over Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas. This severe weather on Memorial Day also stretched across the Mid-Atlantic and New England, with the potential strong storm in the South.

The severe weather on Memorial Day affected the celebration of the heroes and soldiers who fought for serving the United States during the war. There are many incidents reported with this year's severe weather on Memorial Day, fortunately, there are no casualties.

In Houston and College Station, Texas, lightning strikes were reported to ignite some houses on fire as the result of severe weather on Memorial Day. The Holy Creek Apartment in The Woodland, Houston were also reported to caught fire, destroying six units and damaged another six. While in College Station, nine fire incidents due to lightning strike were reported.

While in Memphis, the severe weather on Memorial Day has caused the electricity power to be cut off. There are 19,000 residents without electricity as the massive storm caused the outage. The residents in Midtown and suburbs such as Bartlett and Cordova have to spend the Memorial Day weekend without electricity as the utility company works hard to return the power.

This year's severe weather on Memorial Day also reached Arkansas, as the storm increased the intensity as it crossed the Mississipi River. Watch the weather report on the dreary weather affecting southern part of the U.S. below:
