How does a young person view the problem on planet pollution? The call to save the planet has only gotten stronger and the participation of younger people on projects that help protect the planet is indeed a source of great hope. Problems on global warming and climate change may already be in place, but as long as people, especially the young ones continue to talk about this environmental crisis, one could hope that something can be done to significantly reduce its unwanted impacts on human life.
"Young people and the action they are taking to fight climate change is exceptional," said David Attenborough. He said this as he made a prediction that the continued abuse of the planet would soon provoke young people to feel abhorrent to planet pollution as in the concept of slavery.
The governments that are a member of the United Kingdom have already expressed their support to achieve zero carbon emissions by the year 2050. It may still be a few years away from today, but it is something that makes people hopeful. The journey to achieving the goal for 2050 won't be a walk in the park, but it will definitely be worth trying.
"In a way, I'd like to think that the solution to the problem is not to focus on the problem itself," he said. "We cannot always be radical about facing the problem that we have at hand. The real issue is this -- what can be possibly do? How can be elaborate our actions to make significant changes in how the world is today?"
He emphasized that what he sees today is the fact that the future electorate recognizes the problem and that they are thinking of ways to solve it. Their voice against planet pollution is very clear and that is what is needed at the moment. It is also a great source of comfort knowing that the leaders of the future generations recognize the problem and wants to solve it. Knowing that they know that this world is their future is indeed comforting."
Attenborough continued to talk about a time in the past when it became totally acceptable for civilized humans to think they can own another human being and turn them into slaves. Somehow, after thirty years, the public perception of this concept has changed. They have a more transformative view of the relationship among humans.
He said, "I believe that we are now at the beginning of a bug change that is about to happen. Young people will particularly be the stimulus needed to make this change happen."
The problem on planet pollution is not a problem by only one generation. It transcends time and generations.
