Nothing is more mysterious than the origin of our earth, the more is learned to settle the question, and it raises the unknown. Earth scientists at MIT are perplexed by a new find, that might rewrite the earth's origin. Inside the mantle, tracers of "flux" was discovered and now points to earth as an aggregate of asteroid collisions that lead to its formation.
Detecting flux in the earth's mantle is contrary to accepted notions, how earth formed too. Listed are the conjectures of scientists before finding flux, that is clouding up this accepted theory of the earth's formation.
Another unclear detail of the earth's evolution is added, and it gets more unclear for scientists. The composition of the earth is uranium and lead, lead which uranium after it has decayed. Proof of this uranium and lead layer is sought in the mantle of the earth. Yet, no pay dirt and this is causing problems with the hypothesis that are related to the planetary evolution of the earth.
a. Earth came from the chaos of destruction and birth in the old universe, about 4.5 billion years ago. Everything was created gas and dust as this disc was heated by the sun, and form rock masses to become asteroids.
c. One of these planets to be formed was the planet earth, it developed life compared to other planets. The closest equivalent is marred but is considered a once-habitable.
d. Most models of the formation of the solar system are supported by this theory, until the found flux. Should earth instead be formed by an asteroid collision, it is a meteoroid which are smaller pieces of asteroids.
e. Another conundrum confounds earth scientists, who are wrestling with an unexplainable oddity. If the earth does not have the expected amount of lead, expected in meteorites is nowhere to be found. Closer analysis of the impact with asteroid does not have the expected result.
f. This discrepancy from the examination, and the results, that involves flux is really in need of more clarity. But, more questions are needing more answers too.
Evidence of flux is now found by MIT researchers who are suggesting that the earth is made up of flux material, the same as asteroids. These layers of flux are visualized to be a reservoir of rock that is dense and form crystallized structures under island arcs and lined up volcanoes that occur in gaps of the major tectonic zones in the crust.
Observation and guessing the results of the activity in the crust estimated 70% of the magma becomes denser rock. Lead like rocks will go down into the mantle and remain there under the earth's crust. Furthermore, the lead-laden rock flux makes the mantle very similar to meteorites.
This is according to Oliver Jagoutz, an assistant professor of geology at MIT, that this lead flux will end up in a reservoir under the mantle. It adds another dimension to consider the actual mechanics of the earth's formation in the early solar system.
Scientists pose the question why is the flux undetected till now? Volcanic eruptions should spit out the flux, not keep it inside. All these questions why the flux is there might hold the key understanding of the true nature of the earth's composition. Later studies might lead to learning everything, how the earth came to be.
