Power, cable, and internet services down
An Enhanced Fujita 1 (EF1) tornado and straight winds knocked out power, cable, and internet for thousands of homes last Sunday.
The National Weather Service said the tornado struck central Harrison County, which had "peak winds reaching 107 mph. The tornado caused trees to be uprooted and downed power lines," said CBS19.
Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) reported 39,038 power outages since Sunday evening. Upshur Rural Electric has the second most number of power failures at 19,797, followed by Wood County Electric at 14,399.
Rusk County Electric had 5,587 power outages, while Oncor had 4,950 power outages.
Aside from power, cable and internet went down as well in Kilgore and Longview. According to KLTV 7, "A Facebook post from the electric cooperative states that there are trees down, damaged poles and transformers, and miles of lines down. The post states that much work is needed, and the outages are expected to continue into Monday."
They are not sure how long services will be out, but repair crews are already in the area to fix the problem.
Gregg County, which is powered by SWEPCO, exceeds the number of power outages in Upshur Rural Electric at 23,852.
Traffic lights at the intersection of Paluxy Drive and Loop 323 were also knocked out by high winds. Marshall area also had several fallen trees.
