Dubai is one of the top cities in the world. The people, the cosmopolitan culture and the scientific and technological marvels that dot the city are the reason why it is among the top cities of the world. It is also a leading tourist destination with thousands of people visiting the city every year. Most of the Dubai trips are incomplete without viewing all the wonderful and modern attractions here. These attractions are scientific marvels because these exist in the middle of a desert. Science and petrodollars have come together to create this wonderful city. The technological marvels in the city are:

Burj Khalifa:

Who would have thought that the world's tallest building would be built in the middle of a desert? Not many, but with science and technology it has been possible to create the 828m building. The building also has other highest credits to it such as the highest mosque, the highest platform for public view and the highest swimming pool. The building houses shops and offices as well as areas marked for residences. The building structure is very strong because the design is such. People on Dubai trips make it a point to visit this wonderful building. The building can be seen from anywhere in Dubai.

Palm Islands:

You would have probably heard of Palm Islands or you may have even seen visuals of islands that are shaped like a palm tree. The Palm Islands are made up of Palm Jumeirah, Palm Deira and Palm Jebel Ali. These are artificial islands created with scientific technology and are in the Persian Gulf. The Palm Islands has homes on the beach, marinas and luxury hotels. Many consider the Palm Islands as the Eighth Wonder of the Modern World.

Jumeirah Beach Hotel:

This is the first 7 star hotel in the world. It was actually advertised as the only 7 star hotel in the world when it commenced business. There are around 14 hotels that are 7 star in the world now. The hotel is famous for its Skyview bar and not to forget the restaurant underwater. The building is shaped like a sail. On your Dubai trips you would have seen dhows and the sails of these dhows was the inspiration for this awesome building design. The height of the hotel is 321 meters, making it the fourth tallest hotel in the whole world. People from far and wide visit the hotel and take photographs with the hotel in the background. When it comes to buildings being photographed the most, Jumeirah Beach Hotel sits among the top. The hotel is situated on an artificial island which is 280 meters from the shore. Engineers took nearly three years to reclaim the island from the ocean though building the Hotel took comparatively lesser time.

Cayan Tower:

Again a scientific and technological marvel, the Cayan Tower is 306 meters in height with mainly residences. The twisting building with 90 degree rotation and no structural pillars has been created by architectural ingenuity.

The World Islands:

Again these wonderful man made islands are a result of man's inventiveness. Just think, 300 islands reclaimed from the sea. Each island is at least 23 thousand sq. kilometres while some are more than 80 thousand sq. kilometres. The Islands resemble the world map and it can only be seen from space or from, you guessed it, the Burj Khalifa. The islands are just 4 kilometres from the Dubai coast.

Ski Dubai:

Can you believe it, a ski resort in the middle of the desert. Yes, petrodollars can ensure everything along with scientific technology. It is the largest indoor ski resort in the world with believe it or not a 85 meter mountain inside. You can ski away in the five different slopes on offer.

Dubai Mall:

You guessed it right, the largest mall in the world is Dubai Mall according to area. It houses the Dubai Aquarium which is a major attraction as well as the Underwater Zoo. The Dubai Fountain is another attraction where you can see science in play.

Dubai Miracle Garden:

Yes a beautiful garden in a desert, Dubai Miracle Garden is home to more than 40 million flowers. The natural flower garden is considered to be the largest in the world. The flower clock in the Miracle Garden is a major attraction and the Guinness Book of World Records recognizes it as the largest flower clock in the world.

Apart from these Dubai is always coming up with new ways to use science and technology. Tests have been conducted in Dubai for the self-flying drone taxis. Testing was conducted for these as early as 2017 and this can be a reality very soon. No city takes to innovation and technology like Dubai does. It is a dream city for science and technology professionals.
