A seven-year-old male mongrel has been waiting for his owner after the latter was hospitalized at Wuhan Taikang Hospital in Hubei Province.
The dog, who was given the name 'Xiao Bao,' which means Little Treasure, has refused to leave the hospital for more than three months after his owner died of COVID-19 just five days after hospitalization.
Xiao Bao, unaware of the circumstances, has remained in the hospital waiting for his owner and was fed by Taikang Hospital staff. The shopkeeper of the hospital, Wu Cuifen, has taken care of Xiao Bao after the supermarket has reopened.
Members of the Wuhan Small Animal Protection Association has taken Xiao Bao in, and are now preparing him to be rehomed.
