Lately, apocalyptical movies have become a hit. One must remember 2012, the 2009 action-adventure movie on the Mayan prophecy which predicted the end of humanity after the end of the Mayan calendar, a disaster similar to what the Mayan Civilization went through several centuries ago.
When we watch the Discovery Channel or the National Geographic Channel, there are many topics that deal with the possible destruction of human civilization, caused either by human actions like global warming, population explosion and the potential of nuclear war, or any colossal disasters not caused by human activities like a solar storm or fall of a comet big enough to kill most of humanity. The outcome of the destruction is always the same -- chaos and water and food shortage that drive people to kill each other in order to secure food and water supplies.
The movie Mad Max: Fury Road which is scheduled for release on May 15, 2015, responds to this trend. It shows us what life after the great destruction will be like, where cars no longer run, and electricity or human luxuries don't exist. People have to walk everywhere and need to find a way to survive this new habitat.
The main characters are Mad Max Rockatansky played by British actor Tom Hardy and Imperator Furiousa, played by the South African-American actress Charlize Theron. Tom Hardy has been a major cast in several famous films, including Star Trek: Nemesis (2002) and The Dark Knight Rises (2012).
Charlize Theron is an experienced actress who has played critically acclaimed roles. She has starred in films such as The Devil's Advocate in 1997, the Disney family movie Mighty Joe Young in 1998, and the drama film The Cider House Rules in 1999. For her role as Aileen Wuornos in Monster in 2003, she won the Academy Award, the Silver Bear award, the Golden Globe Award and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actress.
We believe this movie will be a success, since it is packed with romance and played by a prominent actor and actress. Just like 2012, it draws attention to a situation that needs urgent action -- combatting global warming.
