While the new Omicron COVID-19 strain is found to have milder symptoms compared to other variants, many still want to know the signs and symptoms of the new variant.
A New York Post report said that the new Omicron variant symptom could initially alert a person to infection as one sat down for Christmas dinner.
The good news is that a string of strongly positive research shows the new Omicron strain is milder compared to other strains, with the first official United Kingdom report showing the risk of hospital admission is 50 to 50 percent lower compared with Delta.
COVID-19 booster vaccines shield against the new strain and offer the best chance to overcome the pandemic, the health officials have said repeatedly.
Loss of Appetite
The governments are racing to get as rapid as possible; health experts are exploring more about the new COVID-19 each day.
Experts have also said it may have a different series of symptoms to the virus's older version. New data from the ZOE COVID Symptom study has shed light on the most typical indications of the Omicron variant.
More so, there is a clue that some people could suffer from lesser common issues: loss of appetite, a Mirror report specified.
Losing appetite is possibly one of the worst things to happen this holiday season, when a bountiful roast is served, among dozens more treats.
The study compared symptoms people who tested positive for either the COVID-19 Delta or Omicron strain complained experiencing. According to experts, contributor reports identified loss of appetite and brain fog as usual symptoms.
Such findings line up with a small batch of data from contributors reporting that their positive COVID-19 results were suspected or verified Omicron infections.
The analysis showed no clear differences between the two variants in typical infection. The main symptoms of the virus in both strains were approximated to be a headache, runny nose, sneezing, mild or severe fatigue, and sore throat. A loss of taste could strike over the festive period as well, spoiling one's usual indulgences.
Loss of taste and smell has turned out to be a well-known classic design of COVID-19, and it could last for several weeks more, even when the infection is over.
A New Sign
The Zoe data clearly show that the essential signs are no longer a new continuous cough, a high temperature, or loss of smell or touch.
For most individuals, an Omicron positive result will feel more like the common cold, beginning with a sore throat, runny nose, and a headache.
Additionally, while the research finds an alarming 144,300 people are contracting COVID-19 infection each day, the good news is that preliminary data hints that Omicron is milder compared to Delta.
If the severity of the disease is actually "significantly lower than Delta," then some of the impacts on the NHS may be less severe, a senior health official has said.
Chief executive Dr. Jenny Harries, from the United Kingdom Health Security Agency or UKHSA, which carried out the study said, it's offering a glimmer of holiday hope.
