Due to one genuinely out-of-this-world incident, a doghouse belonging to a German shepherd might be sold for the price of an apartment in Brisbane, Australia.
The Alsatian's simple wood and tin home is expected to sell for between US$200,000 and $300,000 at Christie's "Deep Impact: Martian, Lunar, and Other Rare Meteorites."
The meteorite that hit Rocky's house will also be auctioned off, with estimates ranging from $40,000 to $60,000.
Meteorite Hits Costa Rican Doghouse in 2019
Christie's auction house confirmed to Fox News that a meteorite hit a dog home from Costa Rica on April 23, 2019.
The meteorite did not harm the doghouse's tenant, a German Shepard, named Roky.
Roky was taken aback when the rock landed in his house, indicating that it was on its way to a spectacular conclusion.
Because that specific meteor shower is in high demand, Roky's doghouse is now eternally part of scientific literature.
The ocean spans two-thirds of the Earth's surface is where most meteorites from showers end up.
The remaining bits land on land, frequently in distant locations. They are frequently buried far down due to the intensity of impact.
On the other hand, Roky's meteorite traveled a less plausible course.
A shard of a fireball seen on video during its fall punctured the roof of a nearby house. At the same time, another ripped a seven-inch hole in Roky's kennel.
According to Christie's, the meteorite is formed of carbonaceous chondrite.
The auction firm said per Sydney Morning Herald that, unlike Roky's family, surrounding homes would not see a boost in value.
The item has already received 16 bids at $1,600. There are still six days until the bidding closes.
Doghouse An Exciting Auction
James Hyslop, Christie's director of Science and Natural History, said per Daily Mail the doghouse is a tremendously exciting auction and opportunity for collectors.
Meteorites, according to Hyslop, are very uncommon things, with the total weight of all known meteorites being less than the annual supply of gold. He was thrilled that the dog home was included in the offerings.
Since seeing a car hit by a meteorite at a Paris show, Hyslop has declared he wants to bring an object struck by a foreign object to the auction.
He also expressed his delight at now selling Roky's famous meteorite-impacted doghouse and impactor.
The third biggest chunk of Mars now on Earth, valued at $800,000, is the most costly of the 66 lots, with a starting price of $400,000.
A moon rock with an estimated value of $300,000 is for sale.
A stunning 'rare moon sphere,' valued at $25,000, was discovered in the Sahara, as well as a magnificent 'extraterrestrial peridot,' valued at $15,000.
The Valera Meteorite is the most gruesome, having caused "the only reported death by meteorite."
In 1972, a cow was killed by a rock that crashed to Earth in Venezuela.
