Biktrix, a well-known Canadian e-bike company has just unveiled their latest e-bike model that has its most powerful motor to date. The Biktrix Juggernaut XD which packs a 2,000W motor and the Biktrix XD Dual Drive System, specifically engineered to handle the force of the powerful motor the bike exudes.

According to a report by Electrek, most e-bikes that are seen today rely heavily on regular bicycle parts in order to transfer power from the e-bike motor to the back wheels. This results in faster wear and tear, including wrecked derailleurs and bokeh chains, that puts an end to the e-bike fun pretty swiftly. Even top-of-the-line e-bikes need frequent component replacement.

To prevent the wear and tear of your Biktrix Juggernaut XD, the company developed a specialized system that utilized standard bicycle groupsets to handle a person's conventional pedaling, including a second reinforced chain with thick alloy sprocket for power assistance. The second drive unit of the Juggernaut is able to withstand 10 times the force of regular chains and sprockets in e-bikes - which is vital for an e-bike that is capable of thrashing out 2,000W of power output.

For US and Canada residents, the Juggernaut XD can be reserved for an early bird price of $4,999. The e-bike is expected to begin shipping in mid 2022, and will then have a retail price of $5,999.

Difference Between E-Bikes and Others

Different countries have different rules on which vehicle types can be legally classified as e-bikes. For example, in the EU and UK, electric bikes must have motores that have 250W of power or less, which should only kick in when the bike's rider is pedaling, and doesn't provide assistance for speeds exceeding 15.5 mph. If the vehicle meets the criteria, the e-bike can be ridden on cycle paths and anywhere else that a conventional bike can be ridden on, provided that the rider is over 14 years of age.

For vehicles such as the Juggernaut XD it would be classified as either a moped or motorbike. This entails that it can only be ridden on public roads, would be taxed accordingly, and insured like other motorized vehicles. If you want to take your Juggernaut XD for some off-road action, the rider will need to do so on privately owned lands with permission, similar to regulations for quad-bikes., reports TechRadar.

In Canada, where the bike manufacturer is based, laws differ by province. Generally, the maximum allowable power output for e-bikes is 500W and should not travel faster than 32 km/h. Some provinces, on the other hand, allow the use of a throttle, while others do not. Vehicles more powerful than the above stated are regarded as motorcycles.

Meanwhile, in the US, rules vary between states. However, federal law defines low-speed e-bikes as either two or three-wheeled vehicles that include fully operable pedals and electric motors of no less than 750W, whose maximum speed should be less than 20 mph.
