Alcohol Poisoning Signs and Symptoms: Do You Have Alcohol Poisoning?

Alcohol poisoning indicates a high level of toxic intake of alcohol that is dangerous to normal functioning of the human body. It mainly results from binge drinking whereas ramifications due to excess consumption of alcoholic home products are very rare. The blood level of humans can tolerate a certain safe limit of alcohol. Alcohol poisoning is the scenario when the blood alcohol level rises many times above the safe limit.

Drinking a lot of alcohol doesn't do well to human body. It slows down activity of brain, making it functioning difficult. It also causes problems in the functioning of gag reflex that may lead a person to choke on his vomit, which is a dangerous issue. It can also affect the working of nervous system causing damage to functioning of brain, memory and working of heart.

Alcohol poisoning is not elusive to pin down. There are evident telltale signs and symptoms. It can be accompanied with confusion, seizure, vomiting, incoherent and ragged breathing, nausea and pale to bluish skin. In the most extreme cases when alcohol poisoning is extreme, it causes hypothermia which takes a dangerous form when the blood sugar level hits the lowest levels and a person starts having seizures. A person loses control of reality. He does not remain articulate, cognizant of surrounding or intelligible enough to take serious decisions.

The human body can only process one unit of alcohol at a time. Human body has the tendency to absorb alcohol much more quickly than food. The conflict is that our liver does not absorb too much alcohol, one unit every hour. The excess drinking of alcohol in short time may lead to dangerously high level of BAC (blood alcoholic concentration) which eventually leads to impaired thinking and damaged nervous system working. Excess of everything is bad and that is why there are limits to every pleasure too.
