Alexander Sokovikov, the person who might drive you to your office, or maybe your weekend party, recently appeared in one of the TV's hottest shows, the Netflix original series "House of Cards," where he faces off with the first lady Claire Underwood, played by the white-hot actress Robin Wright.
Alexander seems to be a very humble guy. According to the NY Post, after filming his 5 episode arc, he went back to his day job, which is driving a cab, which supports his wife and a 16 year-old son.
After the filming wrapped up in December, he was back behind the wheel. He says that so far no one has recognized him except the man he worked with on a recent voice-over job. Alexander does not like to talk about the part he played in the series. He says "At my job? You think taxi drivers watch 'House of Cards'? Listen, taxi people are lucky enough to be able to speak English."
But now that he has got a gust of wind behind his back, he hopes that he will be able to return back to the twisted political drama.
The unique thing about Alexander, is his perception. He says that he is not a cab driver who acts, he is an actor who drives a cab. Though there are more than 40,000 can drivers in New York. Many of them are doctors and even scientists in their home countries, for now, at least we know that one cab driver is a trained actor who appeared in one of the hottest TV show.
It was during 1990 when Sokovikov immigrated to the US with his family, only to move back to Russia in 1996 to study acting. He started working as a Russian TV actor after graduating from the Moscow's Russian Academy of Theatre Arts.
When asked whether he will be returning for Season 4, he says "I have no idea," but then added "I am good at keeping secrets."
