William Shatner reacted to the country's UFO hearing that has been making headlines recently. He wasn't convinced with what he heard about it and called the entire hearing "ridiculous."
UFO Hearing Is 'Ridiculous'
In a hearing held on Capitol Hill last month, witnesses and whistleblowers vehemently asserted that the government is withholding knowledge on extraterrestrial intelligence from the general public. True believers and doubters alike expressed their ideas in no uncertain terms. The Star Trek alum weighed in on the issue and didn't mince words regarding the matter.
The legendary actor told NewsNation he wasn't convinced about the claims that extraterrestrials from 10,000 light years away with advanced technology would arrive on our planet and hide. He says it doesn't make sense for highly intelligent beings to keep undercover.
Shatner has participated in past investigations about UFOs for entertainment purposes, such as documentaries like "A Tear in the Sky." However, he expresses excellent skepticism and uses common sense to dissect the idea that these "sightings" are highly developed spacecraft from other solar systems.
He wondered what we could want more than to understand that other life forms in the universe share our aspirations. He believed the extraterrestrials would also ask questions about the universe and what would come next. However, he thought it wasn't happening because they weren't there. Otherwise, they would make their presence known.

What Happened During the Hearing?
One contributing factor that triggered these controversial Washington D.C. hearings was an ex-Air Force officer and intelligence official named David Grusch going viral with his insistence that our government is purposely hiding evidence of non-human intelligence and needs to come clean with the classified information, Space.com reported.
Grusch claimed he was told of a "multi-decade UAP crash retrieval and reverse-engineering program" and was denied access, prompting him to file the whistleblower complaint. Grusch, who served as a member of the Pentagon's short-lived UAP Task Force from 2019 to 2021, told the committee that his whistleblower complaint is based on information he received from individuals with a longstanding track record of legitimacy and service to the country. Many of whom also have shared compelling evidence in the form of photography, official documentation, and classified oral testimony to him and his colleagues.
In a previous report from Science Times, former construction magnate Christopher Bledsoe also shared his alleged close encounter with the extraterrestrials. In his recollection, they had red eyes. The encounter reportedly happened when he lost everything and was desperate.
He reportedly saw a fireball that appeared directly over him. He also claimed to have seen glowing orbs over his home every night.
Tim Taylor, a NASA veteran, reportedly put a metal from a galaxy 50 million light-years away in his hand, and they waited for any reaction. They received something they had never seen before. He also participated in research involving "materials not of this world." Tim Taylor reportedly put a metal from a galaxy 50 million light-years away in his hand, and they waited for any reaction. Taylor allegedly told him he had never seen anything like that.
Over 2,000 orb-related videos of Bledsoe's home have been captured over the last two years. While others took pictures of the glowing balls in the sky, others were reportedly captured hovering just a few feet off the ground.
