Conjoined twins share one body or are born physically connected, so they are inseparable, prompting some to ask what happens to their sexual life since they are still two individuals.
Does Conjoined Twins Feel Each Other's Orgasms?
After Abby's marriage, conjoined twins Abby and Brittany Hensel have made headlines lately. Abby wed Josh Bowling in 2021, but it was only reported in March. Her marital status led many to wonder how the couple's intimate moments happened with her conjoined twins always around. Many asked if Brittany could feel her twin's orgasm since they share the same body.
Intimacy professional Ariella Salinas Foire weighed in on the matter. According to her, this depends on their ability to disconnect.
"It depends on how experienced they have become at disconnecting from things happening to their body when their twin is in charge, so to speak," the sex expert said.
Additionally, women's orgasms may also be linked to the brain, so if this is the case for them, it's conceivable to have the physiologic orgasm but not necessarily the endorphin rush. However, Ariella believes that because Brittany and Abby have different mouths, the former wouldn't be aroused by Josh and Abby's kissing. Furthermore, she believed Brittany would feel it somehow, but if she would divert her attention to avoid being a part of it, it might not feel like much.
The expert added that it's essential that Josh, Abby, and Brittany communicate. For Ariella, guidelines and limitations can work if Brittany is just not in the mood for sex.
A threesome is made up of three consenting individuals who wish to engage in sexual activity. In this case, they would have to follow their standard procedure for handling situations if the other twin is not interested in the couple's intimacy.
Though Britanny's body is also being used, it's possible for her to use a sleep mask, headphones, or something else to provide her twin privacy for her intimate moments with her husband. Ariella, however, added that her opinion "is, of course, pure speculation."

What Are Conjoined Twins?
Conjoined twins are two infants who are joined physically at birth. When an early embryo only partially splits to become two individuals, conjoined twins develop. Even though this embryo develops into two infants, they stay physically joined, usually at the chest, abdomen, or pelvis. Additionally, internal organ sharing is possible in conjoined twins.
Even though many conjoined twins are stillborn-not alive at birth-or pass away soon after delivery, survival rates have increased due to advancements in technology and surgery. Surgery can be used to separate some conjoined twins who are still alive.
The location of the twins' joint, as well as the number and types of shared organs, will determine how well the surgery goes. It also depends on how skilled and experienced the surgical team is.
