The Story of the Giant from Kandahar

One of the most well-known stories is about the "Giant of Kandahar," a 13-foot-tall creature that U.S. special forces are said to have seen in 2002. The giant was said to have had fiery red hair, six fingers on each hand, and two rows of teeth.

The fight is said to have happened in a rural area of Kandahar, where a U.S. patrol went missing. The special forces group found the giant cooking food when they got there. When they got into a fight, the giant killed one soldier with a spear. After 30 seconds of steady shooting, the rest of the unit killed the giant.

The Kandahar Giant story became famous on several websites and was told in Nick Orton's book Tales from the Grid Square, a collection of strange military encounters. Even though the story received much attention, the U.S. Department of Defense said it had no record of such an event.

Many people thought it was a myth or a complicated hoax. However, conspiracy theories and people of the supernatural are still interested in the story.

Another Sighting of a Giant in Afghanistan

The Kandahar Giant isn't the only giant U.S. soldiers have said they saw in Afghanistan. In a different story, the head of an infantry team said they saw a giant being while on deployment in 2008 and 2009.

The soldier looked through a thermal scope and saw a big heat signature that he first thought was a group of Taliban fighters. He was shocked when the heat signature stood up as a single, huge figure taller than the 10- to 12-foot trees around it.

Many military people didn't discuss this experience, but it came up again after the soldier heard similar stories on the "Coast to Coast AM" radio show. The soldier thought the giant might be from an old race of giants, possibly linked to fallen angels or like Sasquatch.

In another story, the drone pilot said he saw three giants, each about 12 feet tall, working around a fire. The operator said the giants' heat signatures were unique and much bigger than other animals or people in the area.

During a "pre-OP soak" northeast of the Korengal Valley, another airman said he saw a giant. People said the giant was taller than the others in the room and moved slowly but purposefully.

An article in Science Times detailed these stories more, which made people even more interested and sparked more discussion. In a conversation with LA Marzulli on YouTube, a military contractor named Mr. K said he saw the Kandahar Giant being killed.

He said the giant was hideous and had two rows of teeth. The giant was holding a blade that killed a soldier named "Dan." Mr. K says that the giant was only stopped after his unit fired many shots at it.

Government Denials and Ongoing Speculation

Even though these stories are compelling, the U.S. government has consistently denied that people have met giants in Afghanistan. When Snopes asked about this in 2016, Pentagon officials said they had no records of such events. The government's position hasn't put off people who believe in these giants; some even say the truth is purposely hidden.

People have been interested in giants for a long time, going back to legend and folklore. People still don't agree on whether the stories about the Kandahar Giant and other reports are based in reality or are made up. One sure thing, though, is that these stories are exciting and make you think that secrets may still be found in Afghanistan's remote areas.

Science often makes us think about what we know and don't know. Even though these stories about giants might not fit with what we know now about science, they make us curious about the unknown and the limits of what we know. Whether true or not, the stories of giants in Afghanistan continue to fascinate people and make them wonder what else might be hidden in the world's most remote and strange places.
