There are several tsymptoms to alert you to a possible onset of Alzheimer's. It is always better to know what they are. So, here are some of the signs and symptoms of the Alzheimer's disease:
1. Memory
It is definitely normal to have occasional memory lapses. It is also normal to lose track of where you put your wallet or your car keys, or even to forget the name of a person or acquaintance. But the memory loss that is associated with the Alzheimer's patients, is worse than normal. Alzheimer's patients may:
- Repeat the questions or statements over and over without realizing that they have been repeatedly asking them.
- Forgetting appointments, events and conversations and not being able to remember them later in time.
- Misplacing things on a regular basis and putting them in illogical places (putting the keys in the refrigerator, etc.).
- And then forgetting the names of their family members and the everyday things that they use.
2. Disorientation and Misinterpreting
Alzheimer's patients may lose their ability to identify what day it is, or the season. They might even lose the ability to know their current life circumstances. Alzheimer's may also disrupt your brain's ability to interpret what you see. This makes it difficult for the patients to understand their surroundings.
This disruption of interpretation in their brain causes them to get lost in familiar environments.
3. Reasoning and Thought Process
Patients with Alzheimer's disease has difficulty focusing on things and thinking. This especially happens when they have to think about concepts like numbers. It can be the finances, checkbooks, keeping track of the bills and paying them on time, etc.
4. Judgments and Everyday Decisions
They have difficulties making quick judgments and even making everyday decisions. Things such as food burning on a stove, or even unexpected driving situations seem challenging for people with Alzheimer's.
