Boston and New York City proved ideal locations to settle in. However, relocating to New York City, as a person who is used to Boston, was daunting. The distance between the two cities is short. New York? Since it was so massive, it felt like so much. It was such an exhilarating and also such an unnerving proposition moving into somewhere that actually never sleeps.
Choosing the Right Moving Company
I went to the next step and contacted a moving company for assistance. The moving company that I selected does all kinds of moves, including commercial, residential, long-distance, and even overseas moves. They also provided packing and unpacking services, which was a nice thing because I did not want to pack everything myself.
They also had their own storage facilities and trucks of different sizes to fit various needs. What gave me peace of mind was that the company was fully licensed and insured. Knowing that everything was covered in case of damage or loss made me feel much more relaxed.

The Moving Day Itself
Thanks to the company I had helped organize everything, the moving process was less challenging than anticipated. On the day of the moving from Boston to NYC, I had a lot of workers waiting and ready to start. They were quite organized in how they handled my stuff. They covered delicate items only in bubbles, while other items had to go into quite rugged boxes. It felt so good that I had no worries about whether my items would come back in one piece.
The Process of Acclimatizing to Life in NYC
It was not an easy task for me to get used to life in New York. Compared with Boston, the city is more populated, noisier, and has a faster ticketing rhythm. The first impression lasted a number of days and was mainly determined by getting caught up in the system of underground trains, learning where groceries could be bought, and so on. But with time, and yes, it took all that long, I fell in love with the roof over my head. Everything was a matter of a few minutes walk—shops, restaurants, and various sources of entertainment.
Problems and Benefits
As usual, difficulties were encountered as well. Compared to the current situation of sitting tight in Boston, the rental cost in NYC is significantly higher. I had to recalculate my budget. My apartment was also smaller, but that's normal for the New York region. Space is constrained, which, however, challenged me to be more resourceful in terms of storage and aesthetics. The other distress was the speed of the lifestyle. People were always rushing, and it was rather difficult for me to get used to this constant movement.
Final Thoughts
Viewing it in hindsight, the transition from Boston to New York was a major upheaval in one's life but a positive upheaval. This is a new way of living with additional considerations and much more flexibility. However, as noted, with the right assistance, and especially from the moving company, the whole process was far less stressful than I pictured. And now, I must admit I am still enjoying the daily rush of excitement that the city of New York offers.
