Last month, Facebook made a significant milestone to add up in its credentials, with having more than a billion active users, 1.55 billion to be precise. With daily users rising to 17 percent this year, this brought the company's revenue of $4.5 billion for Q3, an impressive rise from $3.2 billion in 2014. This recent change came from the use of Facebook through mobile phone consumers, which can be estimated to amount about 894 million people every day in September alone.
In lieu with the recent outstanding statistics of his company, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg mentioned that the earning of the company is a result of its mobile strategy. It is a common knowledge that websites earn their revenue with ads, and with Facebook garnering about 1.39 billion of its active users use their mobile apps to get on Facebook. Since the daily mobile activities are up to 27percent this year, they noted that 78 percent of their revenues came from mobile ads.
Another remarkable detail in this news is that Facebook is currently serving up to 8 billion videos everyday watched by more than 500 million users. Because currently the trend of Virtual Reality is entering the mainstream media by YouTube, Zuckerberg was asked if Facebook would grab the possibility of hosting VR videos in the future, but he said that as they expect the VR videos to be developed slowly as the smart phones, it would take some time for the consumers to buy the headset, and this could influence the PR of the VR content investments.
"I don't expect that (to be a) a big industry for people to invest a huge amount in 2016." He was also asked about his plans for Facebook to host long-form videos, he said that the natural starting point is their shorter-form content, and Facebook users were more inclined to watch shorter clips, as it may not be in line with the site to host longer form videos. He said that media companies should instead develop their video content in smaller or shorter form.
