A leaked photo of possibly a "mini" iPhone is circulating around the Internet. Dubbed as the iPhone 5SE, this 4-inch iPhone is probably the successor of the budget iPhone, iPhone 5C, released in 2013 and discontinued last year.
A vocal minority had been clamoring for the return of the smaller iPhone without skimping on its specs. This rumored iPhone 5SE I supposed to retain all of the iPhone modern specs: equipped with the 8-megapixel camera, powered by an A8 chip, while having all the feature-set found in the iPhone 6S.
In a surprising turn of events, the long-rumoured 4-inch iPhone is finally named iPhone 5SE, contrary to people's expectation of iPhone 6C, which follows the naming convention of the previously available iPhone 5C. iPhone 5C was released in 2013 as the weaker but budget-friendly handset.
Indeed, over the past years, Apple had been a little confusing when it comes to naming its products. The third generation iPad was then called the "New iPad". When its successor came out, people are expecting Apple to keep the "New iPad" name for the tablet. Instead the Cupertino-based tech giant went back to its naming scheme and tagged the 4th generation iPad as the iPad 4.
The iPhone 5SE will come out together with the iPhone 7 as expected. Early rumours suggest that the next Apple flagship phone will have a brand new design, a brand new material, and will have features that will clearly separate it from the "6" family of iPhones. This is somewhat expected because the iPhone has this predictable design revision every two years of its release.
This is still a rumour and the product might not get a retail appearance in the next cycle, or even ever. Still, the source of the leaked photo had been accurate the last time it gave details of the iPad Air back in 2013.
