Super Bowl Sunday was made special not just for football fans but movie fans as well after Sony released the trailer for its sci-fi horror movie "Life" starring Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal. Set to be released on March 24, the movie plot revolves around the possibility of finding alien life on the planet Mars.
Space reports that the movie "Life" is set this year, 2017, and centers on a team of astronauts led by Dr. David Jordan (Gyllenhaal). The crew, situated at the International Space Station is composed of six members, and their mission is to retrieve the first research pod to be taken from Mars.
The trailer for "Life" begins with showing the life of the crew, from celebrating the birth of a member's baby on earth, to exercising on a treadmill, and just bickering with friends. But things take a turn for the worse for Gyllenhaal, Reynolds and the rest of the team once they retrieve the research pod.
The team thinks that they have found the first proof of life from Mars, but they quickly see that the creatures they retrieved actually wiped out all life on planet Mars. It started out as just a small thing but began to evolve and devour everything in its path.
"Life" deals with how the crew will aim to protect not just themselves and the Space Station, but Earth as well. The astronauts would do everything to make sure that whatever they retrieved from Mars would not make it to our planet.
CNET reports that "Life" is directed by Daniel Espinosa, who replaced Byron Howard. Aside from Reynolds and Gyllenhaal, other actors starring "Life" are Rebecca Ferguson, Hiroyuki Sanada, Ariyon Bakare, Olga Dihovichnaya and Alexandre Nguyen.
