How Water Use Impacts Diversity of Fish, Insects

The diversity of fish and insects in the ecosystem is greatly dependent on the usage of water in our surroundings. Withdrawal of fresh water from lakes and rivers have become a matter of great concern in the recent times. Owing to the increase in the demands for fresh water, there has been a stark increase in the amount of water being used on a daily basis in our modern society.

Water level reduction happens to be a matter of concern in our global world. Researchers claim that aquatic life in almost all water bodies across the planet is being disturbed due to the drastic and irrational use of water by the human beings.

The prime adversity lies in the reduction of the levels in the seas and the oceans. Any amount of reduction in the levels of water is bound to decrease the population of fishes and insects. According to ScienceDaily, there is no denying the fact that human activities are having a negative impact on the diversity of fishes as well as an insect in this planet.

On the other hand, insects help to maintain a perfect balance in the biological ecosystem around us. According to Phys, pesticides are showing adverse effects on the presence of insects as well as on water. Contamination of water has been a rising issue. Though contaminated water encourages parasite growth, several other insects are facing extinction.

However, extreme usage of water is not the only way in which fishes and insects have a threat of life. Natural occurrences like droughts and floods do add on to the same as well. Floods result in the death of thousands of fishes all across at regular basis. Industrial waste from the factories tends to contaminate the nearby water bodies intoxicating the fishes with the poisonous substances.
