Research proves that fighting the signs of aging is not only achieved with the use of cosmetic products. But because aging also occurs from within the cellular level, it must be fought from within and eating less can slow the aging process.
Science Daily has reported the recent research describing how lowering the calorie intake has a direct impact on the aging of cells. The ribosome, the protein makers inside the cell is said to slows down, aging process slows too. However, this is not bad for the health, for the ribosome will only slow its production but continues its functions. Furthermore, the lower speed gives the ribosomes extra time to repair themselves and replace broken parts.
A biochemistry professor and lead author John Price and his fellow researchers of Brigham University stands out in this study. The group used rats and mice to prove the theory of how reducing calorie intake slows down the process of aging, Washington Post reported. The theory discussed that people who intake a few amounts of food decreases Thyroid Hormone Triiodothyronine (T3) and slows down metabolism and aging of body tissues.
Additionally, Dr. Price and his team's research is directly connected from a study by Saint Louis University researchers some years ago. Accordingly, the research denotes that people who skip rich desserts and refrain from eating a lot decrease the hormone production. "Our research provides evidence that calorie restriction does work in humans like it has been shown to work in animals," said Dr. Edward Weiss.
Both the two separate types of research differently conducted resulted in a similar conclusion. Thus, the recent research proves that the restrictions on the calorie consumption can cause a biochemical change the slows down aging is correct. Moreover, Dr. Price and his team's research on the mice made them discovered that calorie-restriction gives more energized body and greater defense on diseases. But, most importantly, the research proves that eating less amount allows people to live longer and maintain younger bodies for long.
