Fossil previously announced that it will bring the new Android Wear 2.0 software update to all devices before the end of this month. Now, the rollout starts on March 15 with the Fossil Q Wander, Q Marshal and Q Founder.
Fossil Q smartwatch owners are fortunate Android Wear users as they will get the Google's latest wearable OS on March 15. According to The Verge, with the update, wearers will get the chance to use Google Assistant directly from their watch. Users can also respond to texts through their watch's keyboard, handwriting or Smart Reply.
Some of the Android Wears already get their Android Wear 2.0 update like LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style. As written in 9to5Google, for those using a Fossil Q Founder (either generation), Q Marshal or Q Wander, Android Wear 2.0 should be rolling out on March 15. The update should hit all users by the end of the month as Fossil confirmed on Twitter.
Android Wear 2.0 software update will bring a refreshed User Interface, standalone apps, improved navigation, fitness enhancement, watchface complications, an on-watch Play Store and improved watchface selection. Till now, Fossil has not made any formal announcement whether or not any Fossil-specific updates will come alongside Android Wear 2.0.
The smartwatches won't be able to take advantage of the new Android Pay support because an original batch of Android Wear watches was not built with NFC chips inside them. Fossil has not announced any new Android Wear 2.0 watches yet but it is expected to unveil new models later this year.
To install the update in Fossil Q watches, first, go to Settings then select About and then System Updates. Follow the instructions further to download and install the Android Wear 2.0 update. For the other Fossil smartwatch owners, please wait for some more days as Fossil has promised to provide the update for all devices before the end of the March.
