NASA is right now in the middle of a financial battle with the Trump company yet the office is ensuring that it's still keeping its current dynamic projects in top condition, as proven by the International Space Station's exercises. ISS astronauts have been sharing fantastic sights they see in and from space.
This time, many have an opportunity to see them in action as NASA live streams three spacewalks for 6.5 hours! NASA declared on March 18 that the ISS will have three expected spacewalks on March 24, April 2, and April 4, all start at 8 a.m. EDT (12 twelve GMT). Every mission will include two astronauts from Expedition 50.
The NASA stream began at 6:30 a.m. EDT (10:30 a.m. GMT) yet it will generally include preparations since the real spacewalk won't start until 90 minutes later. Expedition 50 astronauts expected in the three spacewalks are Commander Shane Kimbrough, European Space Agency Flight Engineer Thomas Pesquet, and NASA Flight Engineer Peggy Whitson, as per NASA
The first spacewalk, which is happening March 24, will be Kimbrough and Pesquet to set up the Pressurized Mating Adapter-3 or PMA-3 for the fitting of a second International Docking Adapter, which will be utilized to dock commercial crew vehicles, Space cited. The two astronauts should disengage electrical connections and links in readiness for a robotic move on March 30 and, once the PMA-3 is appropriately installed in its new area or location, it will be the main dock for the SpaceX Dragon cargo ship.
"The two spacewalkers will grease up the latching end effector on the Canadarm2 robotic arm, check a radiator valve associated with a little alkali or ammonia spill and change cameras on the Japanese segment of the station," NASA composes. The second spacewalk, planned for April 2, will have Kimbrough and Whitson associating the PMA-3 electrical connections and cables in its new area on Harmony, and in addition introducing the second upgraded PC relay box on the ISS's truss. They will also install covers and shields on the PMA-3.
The third and last scheduled spacewalk will have Pesquet and Whitson change the ExPRESS Logistics Carrier - an avionics storage platform - on the ISS' starboard truss. The case contains command, electrical, and data routing gear for logical experiments on board the ISS. The live stream will contain live scenes from the ground operations, the ISS, and even the GoPro camera connected to the astronaut's protective cap or helmet.
