Android 7.1.2 is rolling out after being in beta. Pixel and Nexus devices will be the first recipient of the updates.
According to Neowin, Android 7.1.2 had been in beta for more than two months. Now, it finally rollout for the Pixel and Nexus devices. Android 7.1.2 Nougat sis what Google calls maintenance update which has limited front-facing features. However, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 are exempted from the update.
Computer World gives details on the Android 7.1.2, and one of it is providing Pixel C tablet with some changes that were first seen on phones. More so, its launcher replaced the previous launcher which is the Google Now. It even added a swipe-up app drawer with the navigation buttons matching the white style and the weather/date widget placed at the top right corner.
What makes the Android 7.1.2 unique this time is its multitasking menu. With the new noticeable menu feature, the apps are no longer placed in large cards that require scrolling. But, the apps are now displayed in a grid type. However, one of its limits for the Pixel C is the inability to access older apps as it displays only eight recently used apps.
On the other hand, Android 7.1.2 would feature swipe for notifications for the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. it will let users access notification shade by swiping on the fingerprint readers. At the same time, it would turn the usage alerts section in the Battery section alerting the user of an app is consuming too much battery or even draining the phone's battery.
Meanwhile, Google confirmed recently, that the Android 7.1.2 Nougat include the Pixel C, Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Nexus Player. But for those who are not supported yet by the Android 7.1.2 update or not using Pixel or Nexus, it will not be available soon, maybe sometime this year.
