Lenovo Yoga Book made a steep turn away from Chrome OS version of the touch-sensitive device. While Lenovo announced earlier in 2016 that they are "very interested" in employing Chrome OS for the Yoga Book, the tune suddenly turned to "lack of interest." The reason behind this heartbreaking turn of event is the mere fact that Chrome OS isn't yet ready to take on the convertibles and tablet devices.
Currently, the Lenovo Yoga Book is running either Android or Windows 10. This setup is giving enough flexibility for users to either run an inexpensive OS or marry their Lenovo device with Windows 10 for functionality. However, there is a huge saturation of Chrome OS among cheaper netbooks and it provides a better option within mid range. Lenovo hints that the expectant have to wait it out a little more.
While not totally dead, Chrome OS isn't going to grace the Lenovo Yoga Book anytime soon. At least this is clear, Liliputing reported. Meaning, the much-anticipated "Pbody" code-name for Yoga Book-specific Chrome OS is going to be shelved at until optimization can take place. At the end of the day, the game now resides with Google.
The Lenovo Yoga Book currently starts at $499.99 for the Android version and $550 for the one with Windows 10. Chrome OS could have given another great option for those who are always on the go and want a mid-capability convertible. Even Lenovo vice president Jeff Meredith himself is convinced that Chrome OS can provide a boost for Yoga Book users.
Since toying with the idea in 2016, Meredith already assumed that there will be a problem that needs fixing. Lenovo Yoga Book will only be able to accommodate Chrome OS if it can provide better touch support. After all, touch-sensitivity is the biggest asset of the Yoga Book. But now it is apparent that everyone is in for an extended waiting period.
