Microsoft was seen to be out powered by Google in terms of education laptop systems in the previous years. Yet, this time the company aims to create a new Microsoft Surface Book that would target education along with the rumored integration of Windows 10 Cloud.
According to Digital Trends, Microsoft is planning to release an education focused Microsoft Surface Book, especially for students. As people know Chromebook takes the lead in the category, but Microsoft was reported to take on the prime with full force and releases its rumored Windows 10 Cloud.
Windows 10 Cloud was then explained to be a system that would only allow Universal Windows Platform apps, Win32 programs, and other apps to be downloaded from the Windows store. Hence, the expected new Microsoft Surface Book was considered by some to be the perfect alternative for Chrome OS.
Liliputing mentioned that as Google Chromebooks were said to be favored by students due to its security patches, the new Microsoft Surface Book which would be Cloud-based could be a formidable competitor as well. The Windows 10 Cloud system would indeed aid administrators’ total control over their student’s laptops as reported.
IDC PC sales tracker, Jay Chou also added that “The saving grace for Microsoft right now is that Chromebooks are having trouble at anything outside English-speaking markets right now.” “They have good traction in the U.S. and Canada, and nothing much more beyond that,” further adding another advantage of a possible new Microsoft Surface Book over Chromebooks.
Some rumors were leaked about the new Microsoft Surface Book education-focused device as well. The device was speculated to run an ARM-based processor that would lessen the cost and provide a long lasting battery. But some expect it to sports Intel’s Kaby Lake chips. Another rumor is that the device will not carry the Surface name but a ‘Cloudbook’ series instead similar to the Surface, Nexus, and Pixel series.
Meanwhile, other rumors regarding Microsoft’s May 2 event aside from the new Microsoft Surface Book was shared by PC World. It was mentioned that a Surface Pro running on Intel Kaby Lake chipset is expected by tech enthusiasts. Windows 10 replacing Windows mobile was also rumored to become possible as well. Lastly, it was speculated that Microsoft might be unveiling its Cortana-powered devices along with improved features that failed during the Windows 10 Creators Update.
Microsoft’s May 2 #MicrosoftEDU event in New York City was speculated to be the launch date for the new Microsoft Surface Book Windows 10 Cloud education based device. Nonetheless, any details or hints about the device weren't given by the Washington-based company.
