ZTE Max XL: A 6-inch $130 Smartphone Running Android Nougat

ZTE has unveiled a new smartphone for just $130. Called the Max XL, it is ZTE's take at the budget segment smartphones running the latest Android Nougat operating system out of the box.

The ZTE Max XL comes with a 6-inch full HD display which has also a rear-facing fingerprint sensor. A 13MP camera on the back is also accompanied by a front-facing 5MP camera. ZTE is currently marketing their new smartphone claiming it to be ideal for streaming videos or playing video games.

The display on the smartphone is ideal for watching videos or checking out the images captured with the help of its cameras. While the size of the smartphone might be big for industry standards, other manufacturers have managed fine selling their phones with the same size but with a higher price.

Coming to the specifications of the ZTE Max XL, the phone is equipped with a 1.4gHz octa-core processor while the exact model and make are unknown. That said, it also sports a 2GB RAM which is a bit on the downside since ZTE's target audience for their new smartphone might require a better memory specification than the one that's currently offered.

Connectivity options on the ZTE Max XL are taken care with the help of a reversible USB Type-C port. Details from Cnet reveal the phone will be offered on contract through carriers like Sprint, Boost mobile and Virgin mobile.

The battery on the ZTE Max XL is huge at a capacity of 3,990mAh especially considering its asking price of $130, even when the top of the line premium devices maxes out at a mere 2,800 to 3,000mAh with QHD displays. The phone also unsurprisingly sports a headphone jack. The only downside for the new smartphone is the fact that its size is a bit concerning for one-handed operation.
