Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani just now announced JioPhone, which is a brand-new dirt-cheap feature phone. The Ambani said that the latest entry-level smartphone will deliver "digital independence" to all Indians. Along with that, the Reliance Telecom has also announced its cable TV service. The JioPhone launched at the 40th Annual General Meeting of RIL. The Jio phone will be available for beta testing starting next month, August 15. However, the pre bookings for the cheapest 4 VoLTE phone will start from August 24. For the availability, Mukesh Ambani said that the JioPhone will physically be available starting September this year, according to Economic Times.
Buyers who want to grab their hands on the JioPhone will have to be very active, because it will only available on first cum, first served basis. Reliance Jio is targeting to churn out 5 million Jio phones every week. However, all these phones will be available made in India, says Mukesh Ambani.
For the specification, JioPhone is having an alpha numeric keypad and comes with 2.4-inch QVGA display. The cheapest 4G VoLTE phone boasts FM radio, torch light, headphone jack and SD card slot. The device also has to pour way navigation system, phone contact and call history features. However, JioPhone will also support all the Jio Apps.
For the data, JioPhone users will get n unlimited data at Rs. 153 per month, which will be entirely 4G, and all the voice calls and SMS will be free in this plan. The JioPhone also comes with Internet connectivity, follows voice commands, and recognizes 22 Indian languages, as reported by NDTV.
As mentioned earlier, the Jio phone will effectively cost Rs 0 with the one-time refundable security of Rs 1,500 which will be refundable for 36 months. The pre-orders for the phone will start from August 24 and for developers it will begin from August 15.
