Vanity has been the main reason why many try to shade themselves from sunlight. Interestingly, people with lighter-colored skin would prefer darker complexion, so they go for the convenience offered by tanning salons. On the other hand, darker-skinned people somehow prefer fairer skin. This is why there is an increasing demand for whitening products and shading solutions from the sun.
However, experts say that the sunlight has many benefits. This free resource could actually save lives.
Many believe that effective cures to illnesses depend on processed help remedies and artificial drugs. This has been the physiological misconception that most people choose to believe.
According to experts, the role of sunlight in nourishing and energizing the human body is crucial. Sunlight is said to heal chronic skin conditions including acne, eczema, and psoriasis. It even prevents heart diseases as it strengthens the cardiovascular system. Sunlight also prevents various kinds of cancers like breast cancer and prostate cancer. Sunlight also does wonders for rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, thyroiditis, tuberculosis, and Crohn's disease.
Some studies show that proper exposure to sunlight can normalize blood pressure for people with hypertension. It can also normalize blood sugar for people with type 2 diabetes. There are also researches supporting that enough exposure to sunlight could prevent anxiety and depression. It also improves digestion, enhances liver function, aids in weight loss, and ensures the proper functioning of kidneys by eliminating waste.
Experts point out that adequate sunlight exposure can enhance a person's immune system by increasing the count of white blood cells in the body. It also increases gamma globulin which enables the body to ward off viruses and germs, reinforcing the capacity of red blood cells to carry oxygen and prevent infection resulting from viruses, molds, and bacteria.
Another research would refer to sunlight as the perfect medicinal pill in promoting a healthy lifestyle. This is because sunshine can alter a person's mood and cheer them up, lowering the number of people with cases of anxiety and depression.
An expert pointed out that sunlight was used as the cure for tuberculosis before the discovery of antibiotics.
Other professionals recommend that pregnant women should have enough exposure to sunlight to keep their vitamin D levels in a healthy range. This would protect pregnant women from preeclampsia, a deadly condition characterized by swelling of both hands and feet and by soaring blood pressure. Preeclampsia is said to cause premature delivery, fetal and maternal illnesses, and death.
However, experts also wanted to point out that each person would have different tolerance for sunlight. This is because each person has their own antioxidant levels, skin color, age, tan level, and the amount of melanin in their skin.
Further research has proven that vitamin D is not actually a vitamin. Instead, the sunshine vitamin is a prohormone that the human body actually produced from cholesterol. It affects the entire human body from brain to bones. Experts say that low levels of vitamin D may cause many kinds of diseases such as cancer.
Some cancers that are commonly linked to vitamin D deficiency include lung cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, and colon cancer.
Experts added that prevention in the form of exposure to sunlight is better than cure using costly drugs.
