Dead Humpback Whale Found Lying Washed Up at San Francisco's Baker Beach Just in Time For the Celebration of the Earth Day

As the world celebrates Earth Day, the online world was saddened by a photo of the carcass of a humpback whale as it lies washed up at Baker Beach in San Francisco on Apr 22.

Based on a partial necropsy performed by scientists at the Marine Mammal Center, the dead animal was determined as a juvenile female humpback whale.

The Center said that it was 'severely decomposed'but the cause of death remain unknown pending a full necropsy report.
