Dark Neck: Five Easy Ways to Lighten Them

Dark neck is the noticeable darkening of the skin surrounding the neck, which is a very common condition for skincare. Typically, it makes the person self-conscious and might sometimes alarm them, but it is not a cause of concern in most cases.

However, this skin condition could also be a warning sign of something more serious health condition, so it is better to consult a doctor for the cause and how to treat it.

On the other hand, there are home remedies that you can do to lighten your dark necks. Here are some remedies that you can try at home, according to NDTV Food.

1. Use Apple cider vinegar to balance the pH level on the skin

Apple cider vinegar balances the skin's pH level, giving the person glowing skin by removing dark skin cells. In this case, the acid in the apple cider vinegar acts as an exfoliator.

Mix well two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and four tablespoons of water, and using a cotton ball, apply it to the dark neck. Rinse the neck after applying the solution and repeat this process every other day. But make sure your skin is moisturized after applying the solution to prevent skin from being dry.

2. Use baking soda to nourish the skin

Baking soda is like apple cider vinegar, as it also helps in removing dead skin cells. But more than that, baking soda promotes circulation and nourishes the skin from within.

Make a smooth paste of baking soda by using two to three tablespoons of it and adding water. Apply the paste to the dark neck and let it dry for a few minutes. Use wet fingers to scrub off the dried paste and rinse with water. Do not forget to moisturize your skin after and repeat this process until the skin lightens.

3. Potato and its bleaching properties

Potato for dark neck may lighten the skin due to its bleaching properties by removing the dark spots and evens the skin tone.

In using potato for lightening dark neck, grate a small potato and squeeze out all of its juice. Then use it on the neck and let it dry completely before using lukewarm water to rinse it. This process can be repeated twice a day.

4. Traditional ubtan can brighten the skin

The traditional ubtan is the oldest form of cosmetics used as a facial mask that pampers the skin and leaves it rejuvenated. It is also used in lightening and brightening the skin. Using it on a dark neck could give it a glowing effect as the flour in the mixture could help exfoliate the skin and absorb impurities.

Mix two tablespoons of besan to a dash of turmeric, half a teaspoon of lemon juice, and add rose water. This will create a paste that will be applied to the neck. Leave the paste to dry for 15 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. This process can be done twice a week.

5. Yogurt moisturizes the skin

Yogurt contains natural enzymes that could give desired results on the skin when added to lemon juice. Moreover, it also moisturizes and nourishes the skin to make it feel so smooth.

Mix well the lemon juice and two tablespoons of yogurt before applying it to the dark neck. Then leave the mixture for 20 minutes to let it dry before rinsing.

Ultimately, it is important to make sure that the ingredients you are using do not harm your skin. Test it first on your hand and leave for a while to know if you are allergic to the ingredient or mixture before applying it to the desired area. In that way, you will see if you are allergic to it or not.
