Britons have claimed that the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine has led them to lose teeth and develop flatulence. In addition to this, the United Kingdom's drug regulator, which controls the safety of COVID-19 jabs, has also been receiving reports of vaccinated Britons being either screaming, crying, or yawning afterward.

A MailOnline report said that officials are asking people to report any health problems they may experience following their vaccination should a severe side effect crops up. However, the 65-page list of alleged reactions, the report also specified, is full of oddities.

Some of those included in the list are even more common compared to actual medical problems. Unusual brain blood clots that brought a scare to German regulators were reported five times. Six people on the other hand complained about 'teething' while 42 others reported crying was a side effect.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency or MHRA officials said that the suspected reactions described in the said report are not proven COVID-19 vaccine effects. However, they are kept on record should any of the same later turns out to be relevant.

Vaccinators administer the Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine at the medical center on March 20, 2021, in Bridport, England.

Odd List of Side Effects

The odd list of side effects comes from the so-called Yellow Card Reports sent to MHRA, which evaluates the vaccine's safety as it is rolled out.

It has also kept track of all probable side effects that occurred among the first 11.7 million people to get vaccinated with the AstraZeneca injection in the UK.

Such reactions include common side effects such as fevers, muscle pains, and headaches which have all been reported countless times and are known to be normal, impacting over one in every 10 individuals, and clearing up on their own.

More serious health issues or causes of mortality are included too, like stroke sepsis, and heart attack, though none have been associated with the vaccine.

According to the said MailOnline report, the reason that severe illnesses and deaths have been recorded on the vaccine report is to ensure they do not occur more frequently than they do in the normal population.

Attempts to Link Yellow Card Reports to the Vaccine

Two people said they had retired following their vaccination, in submissions to the Yellow Card system. Meanwhile, one person, a reported 'tobacco user,' suggesting that he had taken up smoking and attempted to associate that with the vaccine, while another said his diet had failed.

Five Britons reported they had been strung or bitten by an insect, 42 others complained of crying bouts, while three reported they were left screaming.

According to this news report, physical impacts were more closely associated with medical problems although appear extremely unlikely to be associated with a COVID-19 vaccine included excessive blinking, eyes changing color, and growing and losing teeth.

In connection to this, 39 people had reported they lost weight after getting vaccinated, compared to three others who said they gained weight after vaccination.

More than 100 individuals reported flatulence, passing wind, as a side effect, while more than 550 people simply said they were experiencing an 'abnormal feeling' although they did not explain how.

According to the MHRA, most things people are saying in Yellow Card reports are not linked to the vaccine at all. It added, the Yellow Card approach is a mechanism by which any individual can voluntarily report any suspected negative reactions or side effects to the COVID-19 vaccine.

It is essential to note, the MHRA explained, that a Yellow Card report does not necessarily mean the vaccine caused that particular event or reaction.
