Chinese electronics handyman and influencer Handy Geng recently posted a video on YouTube as shown below, where he detailed the process of developing a massive power bank reported to be "the world's largest."
A Gadgets 360 report specified that the said device Geng created has a 27 million mAH capacity. In the video caption, the Chinese inventor said it seems that all people have a "bigger power bank than mine" and he was not happy with that. Therefore, he devised the power bank with an extraordinarily large capacity.
Specifically, reports indicated that Geng approximates his newly invented gadget to have the capacity to power up more than 5,000 phones which have 3,000mAh batteries. He appears to have used a large battery pack that's similar to the ones used in electric cars.
Measuring 5.9 x 3.9 feet, the so-called "world's largest power bank" is described to have a protective frame and has roughly 60 ports. Through its output connectors, the device can support 220V electrical potential voltage.
Can This Power Bank Charge Bigger Machines and Electronic Items?
As indicated in a MySmartPrice report, an individual can "run major electronics" such as washing machines, television sets, and even power up electric scooters using the power bank.
To show how the device effectively works, Geng has attached wheels to the power bank "for ease of transportation." It does not appear much different from the regular power bank available in the market today, only quite larger.
While this power bank is quite large and heavy to carry around while on trips, it does not address the problem of frequent power outages in residences.
Aside from the large power bank, the YouTube channel of Geng contains a lot of fun videos of him developing outrageous technologies like homemade security patrol mech, flying wings, and tissue paper heating equipment, among others.
Power Bank Basics
A Zendure report said the capacity of a battery is the amount of electric charge it is capable of delivering "at the rated voltage." The more electoral material had in the cell, the greater capacity it had.
A tiny cell has less capacity compared to a larger one with the same chemistry, though they offer the same open-circuit voltage. Essentially, capacity is gauged in aH or amp-hours. For power banks, in particular, milliampere hour is more commonly used.
Meanwhile, current, gauged in amps or amperes or A, is the electric flow's rate which, if maintained in a pair of straight parallel conductors of infinite length, would generate between these conductors a force equivalent to "2×10-7 newton per meter of length."
When it comes to charging devices, the terms "energy" and "power" are often confusing. Power is the rate at which energy is consumed or produced and thus, is measured in units like watts, representing energy per unit time.
For a standard power bank, the power is the energy's maximum flow that it can output, equivalent to the voltage that's multiplied by the current.
For example, a 10,000mAH power bank's power that can output 2.4 amps at five volts has a 12W power. Nonetheless, energy is the capacity times the voltage. Therefore, it is 10,000mAH*3.7V/1000 is equal to 37Wh.
