Tech company Intuition Robotics recently launched an innovation that could assist older adults. The machine they offer is programmed with functions that cater to the basic needs of senior citizens. The robots do not require any complex controls from their users due to their automated system, which allows them to be overall personal aides.

Intuition Robotics started ventures in the industry back in 2016. After years of business and numerous adaptive developments, the company ultimately launched one of its remarkable creations yet.

This March, the firm launched a personal aide machine for senior individuals called ElliQ. According to a report by Haaretz, the robot is now available in the United States. Intuition Robotics can deliver ElliQ orders right at their patron's doorsteps today through their website.

ElliQ has a minimalistic design that does not need any controls from its users. The machine consists of parts such as a tablet attached to a lamp-shaped robot that can assist people in completing their daily tasks.

Support from ElliQ includes assistance to reduce the loneliness of its users, especially the older adults and the groups residing in assisted living communities.

ElliQ, similar to the modern-day AI-powered assistants, can answer simple questions from its users. The robot can also initiate other functions such as starting a conversation, suggesting fitness exercises, playing music, and presenting health-related content.

ElliQ's program also can book a trip to essential facilities, including hospitals and pharmacies, through Uber Health.

The robotic assistant was for five years, in which it was tested multiple times and went through a series of studies to fulfill the needs of its users once it was launched to the market. The beta phases of ElliQ raised about $60 million of funding before its launch this month. Large parts of the funds were relayed by OurCrowd, Samsung Next, and Toyota AI Ventures.

The company announced in 2019 that the pre-sales of ElliQ units would begin. Due to its domestic-based business and origin of shipping, there were only a few units distributed to households during the time.

Initially, the product failed to penetrate the global robotic market, especially in the United States. Due to the shake-ups brought by the pandemic, experts from Intuition Robotics refocused on ElliQ, giving it another chance to succeed amidst the virtual and AI-powered technologies that are being used now more than ever.

Intuition Robotics CEO Dor Skuler explained that after years of their team's efforts, the day for ElliQ's success pushed through. Today, the robotic unit is now available to any members of the older age groups who need a 'friendly sidekick'  that will assist them in maintaining, empowering, and controlling their independence and state of their health, Skuler continued.

Robotic solutions target older adults, and assisted living communities are gradually swarming the market. Like Intuition Robotics, several enterprises are jumping into developing such initiatives, including Amazon with its Alexa Together and Google with their numerous collaborations with startup businesses.
