A man narrated the horrific moment a crocodile locked its jaws around his head and dragged him into a terrifying "death roll."
Joshua Young could fend off the 10-foot beast, but the attack left him with life-threatening injuries.
Crocodile Attacks 28-Year-Old Man In A Death Roll
Metro said the crocodile attacked the 28-year-old man while spearfishing in a famous tourist snorkeling site near his house on the Belizean island of Caye Caulker. The reptile then dragged him into a frightening death roll.
Joshua estimated that he had barely spent 15 to 10 minutes in the water when he felt the boat collide. As a result, he raised his head and took a glance around. However, there was no canoe, boat, or other means of transportation. After that, the victim dipped his head back under and felt something grip his skull.
It took Joshua a few seconds to realize that he had a crocodile on his head. He said the bite didn't hurt, and he was too stunned by the situation.
Joshua attempted to hit the reptile with his spear, but it was too long to aim, so he dropped it on the ocean floor.
He claimed that wearing fins made a difference since he could swim much quicker toward the shore.
The crocodile was on his head and pried it off when he came to shore. He recounted how difficult it was for him to open its mouth
Joshua had gotten into a cab and requested a ride to the nearest medical facility. He passed out before he arrived, and the driver had to carry him inside.
He was transferred to a larger hospital in Belize City after staff at the clinic opted to contact an air ambulance.
He was hurried into surgery, according to LadBible. Medics were concerned that he could have a cracked skull.
In one last attempt to get Joshua back into the water, the reptile let go of Joshua's head and bit down on his hand before ripping off Joshua's wetsuit. Fortunately, Joshua was able to flee and seek medical assistance.
Here's What Happened After The Attack
The vicious attack on April 8 left Joshua with life-threatening injuries, including skull lacerations, nine shattered fingers, and his heart stopping during surgery owing to the quantity of blood lost.
Joshua, a freelance surfing instructor, is unsure whether he'll ever feel comfortable in the sea again. However, he said he was lucky to get out of the terrifying situation alive.
His friends have started a GoFundMe page in the hopes of raising money to cover his medical fees while he recovers.
