A dolphin was almost torn apart by a shark that mauled it only yards off a beach, as shown in horrifying images.
Pictures of a dead dolphin that washed up on the shore following a fatal encounter with a real-life Jaws have surfaced.
A junior doctor observed and chronicled the distressing event in South Carolina and shared images of the aftermath on Reddit.
The "clean, circular edge" of the bite mark, according to one user, is consistent with injuries caused by sharks.
The same individual also mentioned that big sharks, like tiger sharks and great whites, "absolutely nothing to fear from dolphins and will prey on dolphins with impunity."
Not to add that large shark species like tiger sharks and great whites have no fear of dolphins and would prey on them without repercussions.

Shark Kills Dolphin in the United States
Netizens thought the shark did not make the first kill and just simply devoured the dolphin's corpse when it spotted the blood.
Initially, Redditors speculated that the dolphin may have been killed by a bull shark or tiger shark.
In one image, a shark's fin and tail can be seen lurking in the shallows not far from the cadaver.
Mirror reported that the dolphin appeared to have had its throat torn off, almost completely decapitating it.
In comparison to other places of the world, Great White shark sightings are less frequent in the European Northern Hemisphere.
Daily Star, citing scientists, said Great White sharks might even be hiding in UK waters after migrating from the Mediterranean Sea when the oceans get too warm.
James Venn allegedly caught the 'first Great White Shark' in the UK in February when he saw a unique triangular fin in the sea while standing on the beach in Goring-by-Sea, close to Worthing, West Sussex.
He forwarded the pictures to Graeme Pullen, a seasoned shark angler, who concurred that it was "an undisputed shark."
Although he said that only Mako or even a tiny Great White shark could fit the description given the size and peculiar truangular form of the dorsal fin.
Shark Attacks
The Sun mentioned that the US east coast has had a number of shark attacks in seas only waist deep this month.
At beaches from Florida to Long Island, attacks on people have taken place, and many have been seen roaming Cape Cod.
In 2019, when a dolphin was discovered hacked in half on a beach in Harlyn Bay, we reported on our concerns that a great white was hunting off Cornwall.
Before that, two other dolphins were discovered in Great Yarmouth, and a dolphin with its head torn off washed ashore at Portreath.
